A day in the life of Lindsey and Tytyn
For those of you who know me pretty well, you know that I can be quite forgetful at times and have probably even called me a blonde at heart. Most days I do pretty well, but yesterday just got away from me and I had a moment where I just was't thinking straight, but we all have days like that right?! Anyways, after Tytyn woke up from his nap we had about 1 1/2 to 2 hours until Tyrel was to get home. So I thought we would go run a few quick errands and then come home and start dinner. Our first stop was to get gas and then we went to Cal Ranch to return something. When I take the keys out of the ignition I put them right into the side pocket of my purse. I did this of course because its habit and then went to get Tytyn out of his carseat. I didn't want to get a cart and put him in it because he has had a real attitude issue with sitting in shopping carts lately so I thought I'll just hold him while I run in quick. But I really didn't want to carry my big purse and him so I just quickly grabbed my wallet because thats all I needed to return something right?! Well as I walked back out to the car and searched for my keys (which obviously weren't there) I just stood there saying hmmmm what are we going to do for 2 hours til Tyrel gets home to rescue us from this mess. I not only locked the keys in the car, but my cell phone as well. Luckily I had my wallet! I decided that we would just start trekking home and see how Tytyn did. On our way home we passed a McDonalds with an inside play area so we decided to kill some time there. We played around in there for probably about an hour, got an ice cream cone and headed home. Tytyn was such a trooper and walked the whole way, which was nice because he is getting so heavy to carry for long periods of time. As we neared home I remembered earlier that morning feeling inspired to leave our side gate unlocked after taking the garbage out. I'm kind of OCD about leaving stuff unlocked, but even as I tried to lock it that morning after feeling inspired once it came to me again to leave that gate unlocked, so thankfully I listened. It was only the gate to the backyard, the rest of the house was locked, but Tytyns stroller hangs out under the patio in the backyard so that was actually a blessing. He's got lots of energy and loves running around and going on walks, but his little legs can only carry him so far. After climbing up a few things to peek in our house at the only clock we have up I came to find out that we still had about another hour until Tyrel arrived home from work. So I got Tytyn in his stroller and we headed out to walk around town. We went to Blockbuster where they were having a screaming deal to buy come cheap movies. Then wondered around a little bit more and then decided to head home to wait for Tyrel in the front yard. By the time we got home I went and peeked at the clock again and knew that Tyrel should be home any minute. So we waited on the front stoop for him. It sure seemed like we had been waiting for a long time and every pick-up that drove by that wasn't Tyrel made me more and more nervous. Where in the world was he?! I said a few prayers with Tytyn that Tyrel would please hurry home to us. Tytyn was getting hungry for dinner (so was I) and I was pretty sure he needed a diaper change. You don't realize how much you rely on things like your cell phone until you don't have it!!! It would have been nice to skip over to a friends house to wait and to use their phone, but I don't know a soul here yet! I finally decided that it must be way past the time when Tyrel should have been home and made the climb to peek in the window again at the time. It was 7:00!!! Tyrel usually gets home around 530, we had been waiting on the front stoop for an hour and a half. By now we had been locked out of car and house for 3 1/2 hours. Sweet little Tytyn was such a good boy! I finally ventured across the street to a neighbors house that I hadn't met and explained the situation we were in and used their phone to call Tyrel. Of course of all days, they had asked him to work overtime that night so he still wasn't due home for another 30-45 minutes. Tytyn and I were hungry so we decided to walk to Taco Bell, I'm so grateful I had my wallet. Well apparently Tyrel hadn't heard me say that we were walking to Taco Bell for dinner so when he got home and couldn't find us he panicked and was driving around town looking for us and finally saw us on the sidewalk walking home from Taco Bell. I am so grateful for my sweet boy who remained calm and made the afternoon and evening actually really fun. We had fun hanging out and exploring around the town. He never whined or cried once, that would have stressed me out way more! So moral of the story for me is to double check that I have my keys before going into any store! And to always listen to the whisperings of the Spirit! I am so glad that I had listened earlier that morning. It might not sound like it was a big deal, but to have access itleast to our backyard so we had someplace to hang out and access to the stroller was a huge help in the events of the day. So check your pockets and purse for your keys before walking into the store today!

What a day! So glad you listened to the spirit and that you had your wallet, and that Tytyn was a good boy!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure but you really made the best of everything.
ReplyDeleteThat is an adventure, I'm glad you didn't lock Tytyn in the car also. That is always my fear
ReplyDeleteHopefully you're not starting to have"senior moments" at your age! I'm glad it was a nice day and Tytyn had fun hanging out with mom. I loved how you followed that "little feeling" to leave the gate open. Love you, Mom
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great adventure!! What a way to start the new life down there! Miss you guys! Sounds like things are good though!
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked at your blog for ages and really enjoyed your story. It totally sounds like something I would do! I'm glad it turned into a memorable, fun experience, rather than a nasty one. What a cute little guy to spend the day with.
